Our story

From a prayer space to a living community.

Masjid Ul Ummah was born from a simple yet powerful intention: a place where the adhan is heard five times a day, children learn the Quran with love, and every neighbour finds a hand extended in support.

Over the years, through the generosity of this community and the grace of Allah, what began as a humble prayer space has grown into a full Islamic centre — offering daily salah, Quran education, youth programs, social services, and Ramadan night gatherings that light up the whole neighbourhood.

Our Journey

Milestones in the making of a community.

A brief look at how Masjid Ul Ummah grew from a humble prayer room into a thriving Islamic centre.

2005

The First Jumu'ah

A small gathering of families held the first Jumu'ah salah in a rented community hall. The dream of a permanent masjid was born.

2009

Permanent Prayer Space Opens

Through community donations and years of planning, the first dedicated prayer hall was opened — Alhamdulillah. Five daily prayers began immediately.

2013

Madrasah Established

The Quran madrasah opened with 22 students. Classes for Qaida, Quran recitation, and Islamic manners were launched with three dedicated teachers.

2018

Expansion & Community Centre

The masjid expanded to include a dedicated sisters' prayer hall, wudu facilities, a library, youth meeting room, and community kitchen for events.

2022

120+ Madrasah Students & New Programs

The madrasah grew to over 120 students. New programs including a sisters' Quran circle, youth mentoring, and faith counselling services were launched.

Today

A Thriving Islamic Centre

Daily prayers, weekly community events, Ramadan programs, Eid celebrations, educational classes, and social services — the masjid is alive with purpose and gratitude.

Welcoming to All

Visitors, new Muslims, elders, and people of all backgrounds are greeted with warmth, patience, and practical help. No one enters the masjid as a stranger.

Grounded in Knowledge

Every class, reminder, and program is rooted in authentic Quran and Sunnah. We seek to educate with wisdom, clarity, and mercy.

Sincere Service

We support our community through counsel, charity, food, Janazah guidance, and practical care — because Islam is lived, not just learned.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions from our community and visitors.

Is the masjid open to non-Muslims and visitors?
Yes — Masjid Ul Ummah warmly welcomes visitors of all faiths. If you would like to learn about Islam or simply observe, please speak to a member at the entrance and they will guide you respectfully.
Is there a separate prayer area for sisters?
Yes. We have a dedicated sisters' prayer hall with its own entrance, wudu area, and facilities. Sisters' programs and Quran circles also take place regularly in this space.
Where can I park when visiting for Jumu'ah?
On-site parking is available at the rear of the building. On Fridays, additional overflow parking is available at the community centre next door. We recommend arriving by 12:30 PM to find a space comfortably.
How do I enrol my child in the Madrasah?
You can enrol by visiting the madrasah page and filling in the admission form, or by speaking to the madrasah office after Dhuhr or Asr salah. Classes are available for children from age 5 onwards.
Does the masjid assist new Muslims?
Absolutely. We have a dedicated New Muslims program offering Shahadah support, beginner prayer coaching, and a welcoming group of companions for ongoing guidance. Please approach any member after salah or contact us via email.
